SPDX

The schema for SPDX licence identifiers and licence exceptions — the vocabulary the generated `spdx-licenses` code list at codes.kanonak.org is typed with. Schema only: the licences themselves are projected from the SPDX License List by its producer, never hand-typed. Version 1.0.0's hand-authored licence individuals and its permission, condition and limitation terms (which SPDX does not define) are gone; reference a licence as an entry of the code list instead.

SPDX (the Software Package Data Exchange) maintains the License List — a short, stable identifier for every commonly used licence (MIT, Apache-2.0, CC-BY-SA-4.0) and for licence exceptions (LLVM-exception). Identifiers are the currency of licence metadata in package manifests, SBOMs and, for Kanonak, the licence of a media asset or a package. A License entry carries its SPDX identifier as its code, the licence's full name as its label, whether it is OSI Approved and FSF Libre, and Text URL links to the licence text; a retired identifier carries owl.deprecated. An License Exception is an exception clause that modifies a licence, referenced by the WITH operator in an SPDX expression.
